Unit 3.3: Wikis in the Classroom

Now that we have seen the benefits of technology integration and cooperative learning fostered through wiki work,

how can wikis be used in a real classroom setting?

Case Studies

The wikis and videos below are examples of wiki integration into a curriculum.

Pick two wikis and/or videos from the list. Take notes as you watch these videos on:

Objectives of the Lesson

Type of Student Interaction

Higher-Order Thinking

Capitalizing on Diversity

Online Discussion

Poetry Wars

Now that you have observed two wikis and/ or videos and taken notes,

click the "Edit" tab and do the following in the discussion area:

State the wiki or video you observed, if the objectives were met, the type of student interaction you observed,

the level of higher-order thinking and if diversity was capitalized on.

Remember to initial your post and click "Save" when you are done.

If you have relavent and appropriate comments to add on observations of others,

click the "Edit" tab and post your response below theirs with the phrase [In response to].

Remember to initial your post and click "Save" when you are done.

Taking this Idea Further

Think about the case study above and reflect on lessons in your curriculum.

What areas of your curriculum would benefit from wiki cooperative learning?

What students in your class would benefit from this collaborative learning environment?

Click the "Edit" tab. Initial and click "Save" when you are done.
